Concrete Flatwork
& Parging

A clean approach to the surfaces you rely on every day. From a new walkway to a refreshed foundation finish, we bring careful preparation and practical detail to your concrete project.

Design inspiration

Practical surfaces. Considered finishes.

More than a fresh pour.

Well-planned concrete should work with the way you use your property. A driveway needs an appropriate foundation for vehicle loads. A walkway needs sensible transitions and a finish suited to outdoor use. A landing must work with the surrounding entrances and grades.

We review the existing conditions, access and intended use before recommending the scope. Base preparation, slab thickness, reinforcement where specified, joint placement and curing all deserve attention alongside the visible finish.

For exposed foundations, parging can renew the appearance of a sound surface. Where there is movement or active moisture, identifying the underlying issue comes before applying another coating.

Concrete for your property

New surfaces. Thoughtful repairs.

Driveways, walks & slabs

New concrete and replacement work planned around loading, access and drainage.

  • Residential driveways and walkways
  • Patios and practical outdoor pads
  • Removal and replacement of deteriorated surfaces
  • Forms, base preparation and joint layouts

Steps & landings

Connect different levels with coordinated dimensions and finishes.

  • Exterior concrete steps and landings
  • Transitions to porches and walkways
  • Edge details and appropriate surface texture
  • Assessment of damaged corners and worn surfaces

Parging & surface repairs

Improve the appearance of exposed foundations and suitable existing concrete.

  • Removal of loose or poorly bonded material
  • Substrate preparation and compatible repairs
  • Smooth or textured foundation finishes
  • Assessment for resurfacing versus replacement

An overlay or parge coat is not a substitute for structural repair or waterproofing. The estimate identifies the preparation and repair work appropriate to the condition of the existing surface.

Choose for appearance and use

A finish that fits the job.

Surface options to discuss

  • Broom-finished concreteA practical textured option for many outdoor walking and driving surfaces. Texture and direction can be coordinated with the layout.
  • Smooth or exposed finishesAppearance, traction, maintenance and the intended location determine suitability. We discuss available finishes before confirming the pour.
  • Foundation pargingA smooth or sand-textured finish can unify exposed foundation areas when the substrate is sound and properly prepared.

Understanding the project cost

Dimensions, thickness, existing concrete removal, reinforcement requirements, site access, forming complexity and the selected finish affect the estimate. Steps and landings often involve more detailed forming than a straightforward flat slab.

For parging, the amount of loose material, surface contamination and underlying deterioration can be more important than the visible area alone. We explain what needs to be addressed before refinishing.

Preparation through handover

Each stage has a purpose.

01 / REVIEW THE CONDITIONS

Define the right scope.

We assess the site, desired use, levels and existing damage, then discuss repair or replacement, finish options and access arrangements.

02 / PREPARE & COMPLETE

Build the agreed surface.

Work may include removal, base preparation, forming and concrete placement, or preparation and coating of an existing foundation.

03 / PROTECT & MAINTAIN

Allow the finish to develop.

Curing and protection are part of the work. We explain when the surface can be used and how weather, traffic and maintenance affect it.

Before you begin

Concrete questions,
answered.

Should damaged concrete be repaired or replaced?

Local damage on a stable slab may be repairable. Widespread deterioration, settlement, drainage problems or movement can make replacement more appropriate. We assess the condition rather than recommend a coating over every problem.

Can you guarantee concrete will not crack?

No. Concrete can develop cracks as it shrinks and responds to loading and temperature. Appropriate preparation, mix selection, jointing and curing help manage that behaviour but cannot eliminate every crack.

When can I walk or drive on new concrete?

Use depends on the mix, weather, curing conditions and loading. We provide project-specific guidance before handover. A surface that looks dry is not necessarily ready for vehicles or heavy objects.

Does parging stop basement leaks?

Parging provides a finish and limited surface protection; it is not a waterproofing system. Dampness, active leaks and foundation movement need assessment and may require a separate repair or drainage solution.

Can parging be applied over the existing finish?

Only when the existing surface is suitable. Loose, hollow, painted or contaminated material may need removal or additional preparation for a reliable bond. We assess adhesion and condition before confirming the method.
