Brick & Stone
Masonry

Preserve the character of your home or introduce something new. Carefully considered brick repairs, stone details and masonry finishes connect lasting materials with your property's individual style.

Design inspiration

Respect for the original detail

Restore what belongs.
Build what comes next.

Brick and stone give a home texture, proportion and identity. When mortar joints deteriorate or individual units break down, a considered repair can protect the surrounding work and improve the appearance without replacing every sound section.

We review the condition, likely sources of moisture and the relationship between new and existing materials. Mortar compatibility, joint profile, colour and surface texture matter as much as the replacement brick or stone itself.

For a new accent wall, entrance detail or veneer, we discuss the look you want alongside substrate preparation, support and water-management requirements. If movement or structural distress is suspected, an appropriate assessment comes before cosmetic work.

Repair, restore or reimagine

Masonry with purpose and character.

Brick repairs & replacement

Address deteriorated sections while respecting the surrounding wall.

  • Replacement of cracked or spalled bricks
  • Local rebuilding of damaged masonry areas
  • Repairs around entrances and exterior features
  • Review of moisture and movement contributing to damage

Repointing & joint repairs

Renew failing mortar joints with attention to preparation and compatibility.

  • Assessment of loose, eroded or open joints
  • Removal of deteriorated mortar as appropriate
  • Mortar selection and joint-profile matching
  • Finishing that relates to the existing masonry

Stonework & entrance details

Introduce texture and definition through carefully selected materials.

  • Stone veneer and exterior accent features
  • Porch and step-facing repairs
  • Coping stones, caps and finishing details
  • Natural or manufactured stone options by project

Support, flashing, drainage and structural requirements depend on the assembly. Your estimate defines the work included and identifies any specialist assessment needed before construction.

The details make the difference

A natural fit for your home.

Matching existing materials

  • Brick & stone selectionSize, colour range, face texture and weathering all affect a match. Older or discontinued products may not have an exact equivalent.
  • Mortar compatibilityMortar should suit the masonry, not simply be the hardest available mix. This is particularly important for older, softer brick and stone.
  • Joint finish & proportionsJoint width, depth and tooling influence how a repair reads across the wall. Small details can make a large visual difference.

What shapes the estimate?

The affected area, height, access, staging, material availability and extent of preparation influence the scope. A few damaged bricks near ground level differ from repairs over a roof or extensive joint deterioration.

Photographs help start the conversation, but concealed conditions may only become apparent when damaged material is removed. We discuss how additional findings would be reviewed before proceeding.

A considered repair process

Care at every stage.

01 / INSPECT & SELECT

Understand the existing work.

We review the affected areas, discuss material matching and identify signs that may need further investigation before the scope is agreed.

02 / PREPARE & REBUILD

Work with compatible materials.

Preparation, removal, replacement and mortar work follow the agreed repair method, with protection for adjacent surfaces and access areas.

03 / FINISH & REVIEW

Bring the details together.

Joint finishing and suitable cleanup complete the work. We review curing needs and any recommendations for ongoing moisture or maintenance concerns.

Before you begin

Masonry questions,
answered.

Can new brick match my existing wall?

We look for the closest suitable product and consider mortar colour and joint profile together. Weathering and discontinued materials mean an exact match cannot always be achieved. We discuss the likely appearance before the work begins.

What is the difference between repointing and rebuilding?

Repointing renews deteriorated mortar joints where the masonry units and assembly remain suitable. Rebuilding replaces damaged units or sections when joint repairs alone will not address the condition.

Are cracks in brickwork always structural?

No, but cracking patterns, movement and associated symptoms matter. Widening cracks, bulging masonry or displaced units warrant assessment. Filling a joint does not resolve ongoing movement in the structure behind it.

Can stone veneer be installed over any wall?

No. The substrate, support, exposure, product system and water-management details must be suitable. We review the existing assembly before recommending a preparation and installation approach.

Should brick or stone be sealed?

Sealing is not automatically appropriate for every masonry surface. Moisture sources and material compatibility should be assessed first. A coating that traps moisture can create problems rather than solve them.
